Best UFO high bay light installation height

Last month we got to know the LED UFO overhead and understand why it is the best application for your warehouse. A common question we have is how many commercial LED luminaires you should hang. Although we added a convenient shortcut, this piece is located at the bottom of the UFO overhead rail. So, we made a separate post here for quick access!

These recommendations apply to our LED high bay lights, but the results will be subtly different. We strongly recommend that you conduct your own research and use the free lighting layout tool. Our results were calculated using the DIALux evo software.

In addition to the 200W version with a 120° beam angle, each LED high bay light beam angle is 110°. This and its lumen output will affect your installation height. Based on a 40-50 foot candlelight output, we recommend installing the LED high bay light at least 10 feet above the ground, up to 20 feet. The spacing should be equal to the coverage, so if the 100W fixtures are 30 feet in diameter, set them to 30 feet apart.
